Trace the fault

Electrical problems, tracked to the source

A modern vehicle relies on its battery, its charging system and a network of wiring, fuses and sensors. When one part of that system has a problem, the symptom can show up somewhere else entirely, which is why electrical faults are best traced step by step.

The symptom
What you notice, like a dim light or a dead accessory.
The source
The wire, part or connection actually causing it.

European vehicles in particular often have complex electronics. We specialize in European & domestic vehicles, and we work on all makes and models.

When to get it checked

Signs of an electrical problem

Electrical faults often start small. It's worth having them checked before they leave you stuck.

  • Battery or charging light

A battery light on the dashboard can mean the battery isn't being charged properly while you drive.

  • Slow or no start

The engine cranks slowly, clicks or won't turn over, especially on cold mornings.

  • Dim or flickering lights

Headlights or dashboard lights that dim, flicker or change brightness with engine speed.

  • Features that stop working

Power windows, locks, gauges or accessories that work only some of the time, or not at all.

Tip: write down when it happens and what you noticed, and tell us when you call.

It can be hard to tell from the symptoms alone, because a weak battery and a charging problem can look the same. Testing the battery and charging system shows which one needs attention.

Intermittent faults are often caused by a loose connection, a corroded terminal or a damaged wire that only loses contact some of the time. Noting when it happens helps track it down.
